You can accessories with belt both for skirts and pants. First we have a skirt and white blouse with a thin belt. Next is an example of a work oufit with a wide black belt accessorizing a pair of white slacks with a short sleeved blouse. Last we have a business casual outfit accessorized with a belt in a contrasting color, simply resting over the cardigan. A belt, as an accessory, can say so much.

What Comes After The Black Power Suit?

Beyond the black business suit.

Beyond the black business suit.

What do you do once you have acquired the black power suit? Well, the black business suit is a basic foundation in the standard professional wardrobe. And for a reason – it always looks good. Black is considered a power color, but what do you buy next?
A good second color is gray. It’s neutral, easy to match with things, and the gray suit jacket can be worn with the slacks from the black pant suit to re-combine into a “new suit”. There are a few different shades of gray – bluish gray, greenish gray, brownish gray, etc. – so compare a few different once and make sure you get a shade of gray that you like.
Then you can get suit jackets in black and white. But not with matching pants, that would be too much – wear the black and white blazer with black pants.
And last but not least, get a couple of fresh crisp white blouses for your wardrobe. It goes with almost any suit, and greatly enhances your professional image. They are timeless. Find good quality white blouses at BasicBlouse.com

Long Necklaces – A Great Business Suit Accessory

This necklace adds pizzazz to a skirt suit.

To accessorize, or not to accessorize – that is the question. That is not exactly the question Hamlet was pondering, but that is the question many professional women deal with. And my answer is almost always – yes.
Long necklaces have been in style for a while and they can add quite some pizzazz to an otherwise traditional women’s pant suit. These two photos are of two different outfits with the same long necklace. First we have a black skirt suit with a gray satin top. Imagine it with the black suit jacket on. This long necklace with silver beads and onyx, completely changes the feel of the outfit.
In the second photo we have a casual office outfit with a cardigan and a white blouse. It would of course look good by itself…but it looks better with a long necklace. Sometimes accessories are almost as important as the clothes them selves.

Accessorizing White Business Suits

White House Black MarketH & M, White pant suit.

Here we have a white skirt suit from White House Black Market, accessorized with a black belt and a black scarf. This looks very chic and well put togethter -a complete look.

Then we have a white pant suit form H & M. It’s a very stylish suit, with a good cut and sleek lines, however, the fact that it is put together with a bland white t-shirt kind of kills it’s proffesional look. It could be a very good suit if it were accessorized with a more professional blouse, or a nice top in a contrasting color, or perhaps a scarf.

And yes, you can definitely wear white after Labor Day. That fashion rule is from another century.

How To Wear A White Blouse

White blouse collar over jacket lapels. Brooks Brother’s.

Should the collar be over or under the lapels of the suit? Most commonly, the collar is folded up over the lapels of the jacket. Nothing looks more confident and clean under a jacket, than a crisp basic white blouse. After you put on your business suit, pull the collar of the blouse up and over the lapels. Press it down so that it lays flat over the lapels of the jackets. This is a very professional look.
